We take each other’s hands
(Vi
tar varandras händer)
10-year old Jessica has a good life
with her family in Sweden. For two years she has been
giving half of her weekly allowance to her sponsored
child Patience. Patience is 5 years old and lives in
Ghana. This film tells us why Jessica wants to help a
child, who isn’t as well of as herself, and who she’s
never met. The children who watch this film understand
that even half of a weekly allowance can be of great
help and can last for a while in a very poor country. We
get to join Jessica on her exciting adventure with
Patience in Africa. She gets to learn a lot about the
people and the life in Ghana. Jessica meets exciting
animals and ”talks” to Patience and other children in
the children’s own language, through playing. She also
gets to see that people can be happy, even if they are
poor – there are many positive sides in their lives as
well. Half of Jessica’s allowance means that Patience
can get things that she otherwise wouldn’t have been
able to get. Jessica and Patience are friends for life,
even if they live on different continents.
What is the children’s law? Differences between Sweden
and Ghana. Sponsored children. What is aid work?
Colouring pictures. Different levels of difficulty
depending on age.
