How wonderful fun it was for all the children in Ghana who got to work with song and music, dance, drama, soccer and the writing contest!
A big thanks to all you fantastic
teachers and children who donated money to our trip to
Ghana this summer. We visited many different villages
where Star of Hope assists children and families,
villages where I am a Queenmother as you also know.
Thanks to among other things your contributions we were
able to give all our schools footballs and goalkeepers
gloves. You who have visited the exhibition Children of
the Same Earth have seen the footballs we have there
from Ghana, made of wrapped plastic bags. The new
footballs we were able to give them now were appreciated
a lot! People in Ghana were very into soccer this summer
since their own Black Stars made the World Championship!
With help of the money donated we arranged Cultural Days
in the schools. Before we arrived the children got to
work with song, dance and drama. As we arrived we
arranged for cultural days where they got to perform all
they had learned for the whole school, village people
and the visitors from afar.
The Cultural Days was ended with soccer games. It became
really festive days for the whole communities where old
and young celebrated together.
During the cultural work in the schools we had invited
interested children to participate in a writing contest,
to write about Ghana and Africa for our new Starkids
Magazine nr V. It is going to cover Ghana and Africa.
Many children participated and got nice awards for their
contributions during the Cultural festivity.
Warm greetings and thanks to all of you!

the Same Earth”

We visited villages in Bolgatanga
where the children live. From 25-40 people can live in a
familyhome. In a typical village in Bolgatanga the
people live in huts made from dried clay. The big family
have many small huts, where they sleep, where they keep
their foodstuffs, and for animal protection. Some women
makes the typical food called Fufu. The children get to
share the bowl. Basket weaving is a typical business and
the baskets are sold on the market to make some income
for the family.
